From the Commodores Desk – Welbeck Sailing Club
As the autumn leaves fall and the water of the Great Lake begins to quiet, it’s time to reflect on another fantastic sailing season at Welbeck Sailing Club. On behalf of the Committee, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all our members, volunteers, instructors, and families for making 2025 a year full of memorable moments on the water.
From exhilarating race days to relaxed social sails, and from beginners taking their first steps on a dinghy to our seasoned sailors competing in spirited races, it’s been a pleasure to see our community grow and thrive. Every smile, every splash, and every shared story has reminded us why we love this club so much.
If you know anyone who would like to try sailing, they are more than welcome to come and have a go. Our dedicated trainers are always standing by to serve members and newcomers alike — so do not hesitate to ask for guidance or support.
Although the sailing season has officially ended, behind the scenes there’s already a flurry of activity. Plans are underway for next year’s sailing calendar, exciting new courses, and a host of social events designed to bring our community even closer together. We are committed to ensuring that 2026 will be even better, with more opportunities to learn, race, and enjoy the camaraderie that makes Welbeck Sailing Club unique.
We encourage everyone to keep an eye on our website and social channels for updates on winter training, off-season events, course registration, and upcoming club gatherings. There’s plenty to look forward to before the next season begins.
Thank you once again for being part of our sailing family — your energy, enthusiasm, and support are what keep our sails full.
Fair winds and see you soon,
Commodore John
