Course Cancellation Policy
1. General Policy
Our courses are planned carefully to ensure safety, quality instruction, and fair access for all members and guests. This policy explains how cancellations and refunds are managed for courses run by the Club under RYA guidelines.
2. Participant Cancellations
a. Notice Periods and Refunds
- More than 28 days before the course start date:
Full refund of course fees, less a £10 administration charge. - 14–28 days before the course start date:
50% refund of course fees. - Less than 14 days before the course start date:
No refund will be issued unless the space can be filled from a waiting list. - Non-attendance without notice:
No refund or credit will be given.
b. Transfers
- Requests to transfer to another course date must be made at least 14 days before the original course start date.
- Transfers are subject to availability and an administration fee may apply.
3. Club Cancellations
If the Club has to cancel or postpone a course due to insufficient bookings, weather conditions, instructor illness, or other circumstances beyond our control, participants will be offered:
- A full refund of course fees, or
- The option to transfer to another course date (subject to availability).
The Club will not be liable for any additional costs (e.g. travel, accommodation) incurred by participants.
4. Illness or Emergencies
In genuine cases of illness or emergency, the Club may, at its discretion, offer a partial refund or transfer to a later course upon presentation of supporting evidence (e.g. medical note).
5. Minimum Age and Fitness Requirements
Participants who do not meet the published age, fitness, or prerequisite skill requirements and are unable to participate safely will not be eligible for a refund.
6. How to Cancel
All cancellation or transfer requests must be made in writing to the Training Principal at Welbecksailingclub@gmail.co.uk. The date of receipt will determine the applicable refund terms.
7. Policy Review
This policy is reviewed annually and may be updated in line with RYA training standards and club operational requirements.
